Just like Rowntree Montessori Schools is commemorating its 50th year, Sesame Street is also celebrating its 50th Birthday! Along with their favourite characters, such as Cookie Monster and Elmo, Rowntree Montessori Schools Kindergarten students celebrated with a fun-filled afternoon of dancing and singing at the Rose Theatre.
Rowntree Montessori Schools believes that incorporating the Arts into our curriculum helps to build well-rounded students. Musical training at a young age helps to support language development and reasoning skills. Music also helps students learn to improve their work. Learning music promotes craftsmanship, and students learn to want to create good work instead of mediocre work. This desire can be applied to all subjects of a child’s studies.
Studies have shown that students who practice with musical instruments can improve their hand-eye coordination. Just like playing sports, children can develop motor skills when playing music.
