Our AHA! Moments take place in our classrooms, every day!
Just like Rowntree Montessori Schools is commemorating its 50th year, Sesame Street is also celebrating its 50th Birthday! Along with their favourite characters, such as Cookie Monster and Elmo, Rowntree Montessori Schools Kindergarten students celebrated with a fun-filled afternoon of dancing and singing at the Rose Theatre.
Rowntree Montessori Schools believes that incorporating the Arts into our curriculum helps to build well-rounded students. Musical training at a young age helps to support language development and reasoning skills. Music also helps students learn to improve their work. Learning music promotes craftsmanship, and students learn to want to create good work instead of mediocre work. This desire can be applied to all subjects of a child’s studies.
Studies have shown that students who practice with musical instruments can improve their hand-eye coordination. Just like playing sports, children can develop motor skills when playing music.

For the first time at Rowntree Montessori Schools, all students from the Academy Campus were involved in a fantastic “Junior” version of the award-winning Broadway musical – The Lion King!
After days of auditions, countless rehearsals, Saturday workshops, much dedication and incredibly hard work, the culmination of the talent of the students and with the passion of the teacher team, Rowntree Montessori Schools presented The Lion King Jr. at the beautiful Rose Theatre in Brampton on April 16th, 2019. There were two shows that day (afternoon and evening), to ensure that all friends and family of the students were able to attend.
The excitement the students have shown while working on this project has been incredible. They were thrilled with their costumes, the music, the make-up, and overall, their teamwork. New friendships have been made, new skills have been mastered and a lot of new confidence has been formed.
We are proud of all of our students who participated in the musical and we hope that everyone enjoyed the show! We will continue to ensure that students are offered opportunities to excel in the Arts, along with a well-rounded, progressive education at our Award-Winning private school!
