Since 1969
Rowntree Montessori Schools is proudly registered with the Ontario Ministry of Education since 1969. Founded with just 13 students in the basement of a Bramalea church, RMS quickly established a reputation for excellence and soon relocated to its first dedicated campus.
Opening of Downtown Campus (1993)
In 1988, Mr. Joe Essaye assumed ownership of Rowntree Montessori School and immediately initiated a comprehensive overhaul of its educational programs. Under his leadership, the school expanded from 37 students in June 1988 to 120 by December 1992. Due to the growing demand for its programs, a new Rowntree Montessori School campus was opened in Downtown Brampton in January 1993.
Opening of Central Park Campus (1997)
RMS expanded with the opening of its Central Park Drive Campus, originally serving Grades 1 through 8. The campus quickly became a cornerstone of the Rowntree community and today operates as one of RMS’s key preparatory campuses, continuing the school’s legacy of academic excellence and personal growth.
Opening of Academy Campus (2002)
The fall of 2002 marked a major milestone with the launch of the Rowntree Montessori Schools Academy Campus—RMS’s largest facility to date. Welcoming students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8, the Academy features state-of-the-art science and computer labs, a music and arts studio, a library, and a full gymnasium with a stage.
Partnership with ISP (2023)
In 2023, Rowntree joined the International Schools Partnership, broadening our horizons and reinforcing our global vision.
