Summer is almost here – let the fun and learning begin! Summer Camp at Rowntree Montessori Schools is an amazing childhood experience, and offers children “the best of both worlds” – stimulating academic instruction in Mathematics and English in the morning, followed by a variety of entertaining camp-based activities in the afternoon. Playing in the sunshine with friends, learning new skills, preparing for the upcoming school year, and taking weekly field trips to exciting destinations are all part of the Rowntree Summer Camp experience. Students age 4 to 14 are invited to join us for both half-day and full-day programs!
Rowntree specializes in the delivery of Summer Readiness Programs, providing the foundations of the Math and English curriculum for each child’s forthcoming school year. We prepare younger children for Junior Kindergarten (using a strong Montessori-inspired foundation which is delivered in RMS’ Kindergarten Montessori Programme during the academic year), Senior Kindergarten or as we call it at RMS Prep-ONE (which is a unique and extremely effective Grade 1 preparatory program), and Grade 1. Older students in Grade 2 to 8 benefit from enriched and/or remedial support in Mathematics, Reading and Writing, with individualized programming and engaged learning through our interactive white boards and computer labs. All learning activities are based around a weekly theme; students become super heroes, famous musicians, or travel around the world! Afternoon activities in our gymnasium and outside on our school field include cooking, arts and crafts, sports, and “fun in the sun”. Each week, students will go on a theme-related and age appropriate field trip, or enjoy an in-school workshop, like hands-on exotic animal workshops, drum making, Professor’s Lake, and laser tag.
Our professional and welcoming staff will ensure that all students feel at home during their time at Rowntree, and we welcome students from all over the region to attend our summer camps! Rowntree Montessori believes strongly in developing confidence, promoting individual talents, and encouraging character development through a positive learning environment. Students are inspired to take on leadership roles, take responsibility for their own actions and belongings, and treat those around them with respect.
