

At Rowntree Montessori Schools, a student’s placement is based on an assessment of the stage of development and learning capabilities rather that solely on his/her age.
The students are promoted from one level to the next whenever the outcome of the ongoing assessment shows that all the standards and objectives of the present level are met as well as social development is proven advanced. The final decision is made in close consultation with the parents and is monitored by the Director of Education. This child-centered, individualized approach to evaluation and promotion makes full use of the child’s learning capabilities and leads to advanced academic performance and possible accelerated placement of a student.
