On September 30, 2015, Rowntree Academy had the extraordinary honour to be invited to a special reception presented by Free the Children and Me to We in Toronto. The Evening of Inspiration recognizes schools and individuals who have done outstanding fundraising over the last year. The Evening of Inspiration is a celebration of youth empowerment and achievement, as well as a kick off for a new year of fundraising.
Out of the 20,000 people invited to We Day, only 200 are invited to the Evening of Inspiration. Rowntree was privileged to be one of only four private schools to be invited. As you may know, last year we raised almost $9,000 in our Brick by Brick campaign for Free the Children to build our school in Kenya. Because of this, we were recognized as a top earner by Me to We.
In addition to motivational words from Marc Kielburger, co-founder of Free the Children and Me to We, students were treated to stories of experience from fellow youth change makers. Their accomplishments have further inspired our students to become agents of change in our local and global community.
We are very proud of Ishan, Brianna, Maya, and Anav and their efforts last year. We look forward to their bright ideas and energy in promoting youth empowerment and leadership.
