Fun summer camps are more than a great way for your kids to relax because they can be an educational experience. For example, according to our sources, private schools with small class sizes typically have a student-to-teacher ratio of 12:1. That’s about what they get with a summer program! That said, it’s important for your little ones to pack properly to have a good time.
1. Bring More Essentials Than Necessary
When packing for summer camp, it’s important to at least double what your child is likely to need for their essentials. For example, things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, clothes, and bug repellent should be packed at double the normal level. That’s because they’ll typically have a bit too much fun out there and may end up needing some extra items to replace them.
2. Label Everything
It’s important to make sure that your child labels everything to ensure that they don’t lose anything while they’re away. For example, clothing, suitcases, and even personal devices should have their names printed on them to avoid confusion. This way, each camper returns home with everything they brought to camp.
3. Save Room In Suitcases
You can save room in your child’s bags by rolling up their clothes to make them easier to pack, including rolling socks inside of shoes and their belts around pairs of pants. Furthermore, you can put all their toiletries in a shower caddy that not only keeps them from rolling all over the place but provides a handy bag for going to the shower when needed.
4. Choose Comfort Items Carefully
Even the most independent youngsters may need some kind of comfort item to take with them to camp. Try to make these things useful, such as their favorite pillow or blanket. The goal here is to make them feel closer to home without taking up too much room in their suitcase. Even a picture of the family might be useful if they’re particularly close to their loved ones.
By packing your children for summer camps in this way, you ensure that they are ready to have fun without experiencing any serious issues. Just as importantly, you can improve their experience by streamlining their packing and avoiding excessive items.
